Finger foods for parties – simple in concept, simple in execution! Finger foods are the best idea for a fun and relaxing night with friends. Other than these eat-in-one-bite starters that don’t require forks and knives to enjoy, all you need to provide is a few drinks!
When you go to a party and, more importantly, when you host a party, you want to be relaxed and have fun. You usually don’t want to complicate your life with knives, forks, spoons, chopsticks, many plates or other utensils. Unless it’s a party for your parents or grandparents. For every other type of event, serving finger foods is the best choice you can make.
This type of treat is meant to be eaten directly using your hands. So, forget knives and forks but wash your hands beforehand. Finger foods are usually appetizers or starters like sliced meat pies, sausage rolls, sausages on skewers, cheese and olives on skewers, chicken drumsticks or wings, spring rolls, and anything in miniature: quiches, pastries, sandwiches. But we’re here to tell you how to create a menu of easy-to-make finger foods for parties.
8 Finger foods for parties
1. Bruschetta
Bruschetta is a perfect starter to add on your list of finger foods for parties. It comes from Italy and, at first, was made with grilled bread rubbed with garlic and topped with olive oil and salt. There are many variations with different types of toppings: tomatoes, vegetables, beans, cured meat, or cheese.
You can try our bruschetta recipes, like this one, made of whole wheat bread topped with goat cheese, prosciutto, and grilled peach and quince. Delicious enough? We think so too!
2. Boulettes
Boulettes is the French term for ‘little balls.’ You can serve boulettes on their own, or with a salad or dip. Just pick one and throw it in your mouth. You can make meat boulettes or vegetarian boulettes.
Our choice for the next party is these ‘boulettes de viande’, in French. We called them Cheesy Spicy Chicken Boulettes. They have a spicy chicken mixture, flavored with herbs, ginger, chili, and garlic. The meatballs are coated in breadcrumbs for a slightly crispy texture that contrasts in the most appetizing way with the gooey mozzarella core.
3. Pretzel-crusted snacks
You can make dozens of finger foods for parties if you coat small foods in crushed pretzels and then you fry the snacks. You can use chicken pieces, low-moisture mozzarella cubes, fish bites, pickles, or fresh veggies. Just remember to use a binding agent. Usually, we use eggs or just egg whites.
If you want to, you can use the same main ingredients to make different types of pretzel-crusted snacks, just by adding different spices to the crust. Let’s say you make these pretzel-crusted zucchini snacks. Add different seasonings to different batches of zucchini, to have various flavors at the party. You can serve them as a movie night snack too.
4. Veggie bites
Making veggie bites is one of the easiest types of finger foods you can ever make. You have to have patience and to be meticulous, it’s true, but it’s quite easy.
You can use raw vegetables to make refreshing snacks, like these ones, or opt for vegan bites with veggies that need roasting in the oven, or no-bake at all snacks, like these Hummus and cucumber bites.
5. Stuffed mushrooms
You can stuff mushrooms using many fillings. You can use turkey or chicken meat, but there are also plenty of excellent vegetarian options. They have a meaty texture and a savory flavor, so they work as an excellent substitute for meat. You can cook them in the oven together with the filling, or stuff them after you remove the mushrooms from the oven.
When making these Cream cheese and spinach stuffed mushrooms we enjoyed cooking them in the oven. They’re topped with a delicious mixture of spinach and cheese, they’re low in calories and carbs, and they only take 30 minutes to be ready!
6. Different types of deviled eggs
Deviled eggs are always good as finger foods for parties. Does anyone have a different opinion? We don’t trust people who won’t eat deviled eggs at a party! We have a lot of deviled eggs recipes you can get inspired by. But check out these Hot and spicy deviled eggs! We’ve updated the classic recipe by giving the eggs more color, texture, and flavor! And yes, as you can see, we made three different stuffings.
7. Vegetable crisps with homemade dips
Oven-baked vegetable crisps make a simple, healthy party snack. Deep-fried vegetable crisps are not as healthy, we admit it, but they’re amazingly tasty. You can use vegetables like potatoes, sweet potatoes, zucchini, celery root, carrots, or beetroot. Place different bowls with homemade dips on the table, so anyone can choose their favorite combos.
8. Fish fingers
Many people love fish fingers, so they’re a good option if you’re looking for easy to make finger foods for your party. They’re crispy, golden, and perfect to serve with chips. To finish cooking as quickly as possible, lay out your plates in an assembly line before you start: flour, then beaten egg (or egg wash), then breadcrumbs.
If you’re in the mood for something crunchy and quite cheesy, try these Cheddar jumbo fish fingers.
