Do you want to throw a party, but not doing too much cooking? Here are 10 party dips which go well with veggies, nachos, and crackers!
Throwing a party is a great way to celebrate life in general and have fun with your friends! So, it doesn’t matter if it’s Thursday evening or Saturday night, just invite your friends to come over. Ask them to bring some nachos, crackers, chips, flatbread, pretzels, or anything that can be dipped in the sauces that you’re going to make! When talking about party dips, the sky is the limit!
Making two-three dips and serving them with breads or vegetable sticks is the best idea – you don’t need much time, effort, or table settings to please your guests. When my dearest friends come to my place, I like to set some pillows around the coffee table, chit-chat, drink a glass of good wine, watch a movie, listen to music, or dream about our next plans.
You can do everything the hours before the party without stressing out too much. Drop by your neighborhood grocery and buy the ingredients you need. Don’t forget the drinks – keep it simple: buy wine, fruit cider, ginger ale, or natural juice. Then, roll up your sleeves and start chopping, blending, and mixing.
10 ideas for a dip party
1. Guacamole
If you have a dip party, this classic cannot miss from the table: guacamole! The secret to a perfect guacamole is choosing ripe avocados. In a medium bowl, mash avocados with a fork, then stir in lime juice, tomato, chopped jalapeno, or chili, garlic, red onion, and coriander. Season with salt and pepper, then mix. Done! It not only tastes amazing, but it’s also excellent for vegans!
2. Lemon pecorino dip
Cheese is perfect for dips and sauces, thanks to its strong flavor and ability to bind other foods together. In a medium bowl, mix sour cream, grated pecorino (which is a hard Italian cheese), lemon zest, salt, and pepper. Serve with chips.
3. Feta and sun-dried tomato dip
When you’re throwing a party and want to make some dips, you should have both warm and cool. And this one, with feta and dried tomatoes, is very refreshing. In a medium bowl, mash feta, yogurt, and olive oil until they’re mostly smooth. Mix in some chopped sun-dried tomatoes and season with salt and pepper.
4. Garlic and shrimp dip
Heat some vegetable oil in a skillet and cook the shrimp with garlic, until pink and firm. Let the shrimp cool, then chop it.
In a large bowl, mix together lemon juice and zest, cream cheese, mayonnaise, mozzarella, parmesan, chopped parsley, and chopped shrimp. Then, simply season with salt and pepper. Store in your freezer and when it’s time for the party to begin, transfer the dip to a small baking dish and bake until it’s bubbly and golden about 25 minutes.
5. Tuna dip
This one is quick and easy to make! Blend cream cheese, canned tuna, mayonnaise, parsley, capers, and lemon juice in a food processor. Pulse until smooth and keep in the fridge until the next day! You can add some more capers on top just before serving it.
6. Chicken dip
Microwave some cream cheese for about 30 seconds, until it softens. When ready, add your favorite hot sauce, some diced celery, blue cheese crumbles, blue cheese dressing, and ground pepper. Mix well, add shredded chicken, mix again, and transfer to a baking dish, then to the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes. This one is best if served immediately, so you may consider making it just before your friends are ringing the doorbell.
7. Baked Camembert
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F/180 degrees C. Cut the top of a 9 ounces/250 grams Camembert, slice a peeled garlic clove, and poke it into the top of the cheese with a few fresh rosemary leaves. Drizzle with olive oil then bake it in the hot oven for 15 to 20 minutes. Is as simple as it gets!
Or… you can bake the Camembert cheese inside of a bread bowl, like in here:
8. Hummus
To make a perfect classic hummus, the best way is using canned chickpeas. Rinse them in cold water, be careful, and don’t throw away the liquid from the can, because you’ll need some!
Throw the chickpeas into the food processor, add tahini, crushed garlic, salt, lemon juice, a few drops of olive oil and some chickpea liquid, for a smooth texture. Pulse until the hummus is ready, then transfer it to the freezer until you serve it. Before serving, mix, drizzle some more olive oil, and sprinkle paprika powder and, if you want, some pumpkin, sunflower, and sesame seeds.
9. Caramel and chocolate dip
Yes, yes, yes, this is true – sweet dips! To make a caramel and chocolate dip, use an electric mixer to combine cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and fluffy. Beat in gradually some heavy cream. Chop caramel chocolate and fold it into the cream mixture. Transfer to a serving bowl and chill in the refrigerator until it’s ready to serve. Right before you bring it to the party area, top the dip with some more chopped chocolate, and drizzle caramel sauce. The sweet dips should be served with pretzels. You can also dip apple slices in this one.
10. Dulce de leche dip
For this one, you need to make whipped cream by beating heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract. In another bowl, beat cream cheese, dulce de leche, and salt until well combined. Add the contents of a bowl to another one. If you want to, you can top the dip with banana slices. Dip pretzels or sweet crackers in it.
Have several pretty bowls, plates, platters, and serving spoons ready to go. House parties are simple, laid-back parties to just get friends together and to have a good time.
