She is Queen Bey and she needs no introduction, am I right? But what are her beauty secrets so that she is so full of energy and fire on stage? Here are some diet tips from Beyoncé. See what you can learn from her.
Beyoncé is an honest to goodness force of nature. It doesn’t matter if she’s on stage (remember her performance at Coachella this year that had everyone buzzing?) or in her videos (‘Hold Up’ is a testament to badassery, for me, in many ways). The energy and charisma she outwardly projects is probably unparalleled.
That’s why I was very interested in finding out some diet tips from Beyoncé. And no, it’s not about her looks, even though nobody could deny her body is too ‘bootylicious’ for us mere mortals. I was more interested in what her diet is thanks to her energy on stage and how she maintains that level of physicality. I have researched. And this is what I found out.
4 diet tips from Beyoncé
1. Be aware of the sacrifice
Beyoncé talked to SELF magazine about her willingness to make sacrifices to stay in shape. “I can’t eat what I want, and I can’t not go to the gym. The truth is it’s a lot of sacrifices. It’s more about your mental strength than physical strength. You have to push yourself. It doesn’t matter what trainer you have. And it doesn’t matter what program you’re on. You have to be healthy and make the right choices.”
2. She is mostly on a plant-based diet
The artist is not vegan, but she did undertake a 22-day vegan diet challenge with her husband, the rapper Jay-Z. They did that for more energy and better heart health. After that challenge though, they did go back to eating meat. Not as much as before though.
3. A good attitude
I don’t think that there is one single way to be beautiful or one valid figure you can have. And would you look at that? So does Queen Bey. “Everyone is not supposed to be the same. Be healthy and take care of yourself but be happy with the beautiful things that make you, you,” Beyoncé said in the same interview. And you can actually observe that in her videos: there is a lot of diversity when it comes to beauty!
4. Lemonade diet
What is that, you ask? It’s a sly reference to Beyoncé’s probably greatest conceptual album, but also to the Master Cleanse, an intense diet the singer followed in 2006 to get in shape for her part in the musical “Dreamgirls”. She only drank this lemonade-like beverage for two weeks, made with 2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice, 2 tablespoons of grade B maple syrup, one-tenth of a teaspoon cayenne pepper and 10 ounces of water. This is just one serving, though.
You should know that nutritionists aren’t very happy about this diet, because it doesn’t really sustain your body.
5. She treats herself
Even though she is serious about sacrifice, her attitude and keeping in shape, Beyoncé know that one of the secrets of keeping cravings away is sometimes having a cheat day. And when that happens, she has pizza. And dessert! Sounds a bit like the 80/20 diet to us!
