Don’t worry, there’s no actual basket involved in the making of this recipe! You just have to take a slice of bread, cut a hole in it and bake the egg in that hole. For extra flavor, we’ve toasted the bread in butter prior to adding the egg in. Oh, and adding a little crispy bacon to the combination won’t hurt anybody!

1 tablespoon butter
2 eggs
1 bacon

How to Make Egg in a Basket

  1. The bread slices should be around 0.6 inch (1.5 cm) thick. Fry the bacon slice until it is crispy.
  2. Use a 2 inches (5 cm) diameter cooking ring and remove the middle of the bread slices.
  3. Heat a skillet, add the butter and melt it. Add the bread slices and cook them until golden and crispy on one side. Then flip them over and crack the egg in the hole.
  4. Break small chunks of fried bacon on top of the eggs. Season them with salt and pepper. Reduce the heat and cook the eggs until they are set, but still soft.
  5. Serve warm!
