You've never cooked oatmeal before? Everybody's gotta start somewhere. Cooking it is easy peasy, just remember to use a ratio of 1 cup of oats to 2 cups of water.

Ingredients Needed for Basic Oatmeal

1 cup rolled oats
2 cups of water
blackberry jam for topping

How to Make Basic Oatmeal

  1. Heat a saucepan over medium heat, add the rolled oats and pour the water.
  2. Add a pinch of salt and bring to a boil. Give it a good stir.
  3. Cook the oats until the water is absorbed for a maximum of 5 minutes.
  4. Rememeber: Use a ratio of 1 cup of oats per 2 cups water.
