Spring Homemade Face Masks for Dry, Oily, and Normal Skin

Published by

Winter is long gone, and it’s time to return to a more aware beauty routine. We’re here to recommend you some spring homemade face masks to refresh your skin, whether it’s dry, oily, or normal.

After months of freezing or unpredictable weather, our skin needs more care and maybe a restart in our daily routine. We may be a little lazier with our skincare in the winter, but spring is here, and it’s time to shake things up a little and get rid of your lousy winter habits.

Your spring beauty routine should include cleaning your skin, exfoliating your face, hydrating it, and applying some sunscreen with a high Sun Protection Factor (SPF). Clean your face twice a day, in the morning and in the evening. Exfoliating works to help rid your skin of any dry, rough layers left over from the winter. Avoid rough exfoliants which can irritate the skin and exfoliate no more than once or twice a week. Use moisturizing cream. If you use a light one for the daytime, because you also like to apply a light makeup, you should use an intense one before going to bed. And please don’t forget the SPF. You need sunscreen protection from UVB rays year-round, but when the weather becomes warmer you will surely stay outside more, and the sun is more powerful.

3 spring homemade face masks

It’s not a huge effort to embrace this skincare routine. And we’re here to help with three ideas for spring homemade face masks, one for each skin type: dry, oily, and normal. Because we don’t want to complicate things, we chose spring homemade face masks made with simple and handy ingredients. And because we know you don’t always have the time for making fancy combos, we have one basic version and a more complicated one for each complexion.

Dry skin – avocado

If you have dry skin, avocado is the key. You can create many spring homemade face masks for dry and sensitive skin using this fatty fruit. Let’s start with the simple mask: mash 1/2 well-ripened avocado, add 1 teaspoon of extra virgin olive oil and mix until you get a thick paste. Apply the mask on your clean face, leave it on for 10-15 minutes and rinse it with lukewarm water.

You can also try other mixtures, but keep avocado as the main ingredient. For example, combine 1/2 well-ripened avocado (mashed), 2 tablespoons of honey, and 1/2 teaspoon of coconut oil. Blend everything and apply on your face. After 15 minutes, remove the mask and then rinse your face with warm water.

Avocado has moisturizing properties, and you won’t believe how smooth your face will be after using these masks.

Oily skin – yogurt and lemon

Yogurt contains lactic acid that acts as a natural skin cleanser and also has antibiotic properties, so you should take advantage of it if you have oily skin. The citric acid in lemon can help neutralize and control the natural oil secretion of your skin.

There are many spring homemade face masks you can make with yogurt and lemon.

The first one that comes to my mind is simple: mix 2 tablespoons of yogurt with 2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice, which controls the oil secretion. When you get a consistent paste, apply it on your face, avoiding the eyes. Leave it on for 5 to 10 minutes, and then rinse with warm water. After that, apply an oil-free moisturizer. You can use this mask once a week to improve the glow of your complexion.

The second you might want to try is more complicated, but you should give it a chance. Mix 1/4 cup of mashed strawberries, 2 tablespoons of lemon juice, 1 tablespoon of yogurt, and 1 tablespoon of honey with a fork. Apply this mask evenly all over your face and let it sit for 10 minutes. Remove it with a warm, damp cloth and then rinse with cool water.

If you need one more reason to make it, then you should know that strawberries contain salicylic acid, which is excellent for acne-prone skin, and honey has antibiotic properties, as well as yogurt. If the recipe seems too complicated, make it once a week.

Normal skin – honey

Besides its antibiotic properties, honey will nourish your normal skin. You can make many combos using honey.

The first one we suggest you make at home contains only honey and orange juice. Just combine 3-4 tablespoons of freshly squeezed orange juice with 2 tablespoons of heated honey. Apply this mixture on your face and neck and wait 30 minutes before removing it with warm water. This mask stimulates blood circulation and invigorates the skin tissue. You should use it once a week.

Another spring homemade face mask for normal skin (which, in fact, works for all skin types) combines honey with oatmeal and yogurt. You need 1/3 cup of instant oatmeal, 1/2 cup of hot water, 1 tablespoon of honey, and 1-2 tablespoons of plain yogurt. Just add the water to your oatmeal and stir for a few minutes, then add the honey and yogurt. Transfer to a blender and pulse to make a smooth mask. Apply it on your face and leave it on for 10 minutes, and then just wash it off with warm water.
