Research has long warned us about the protective walnut power, but here’s another one that’s concerned with how it helps us deal with IBD damage. According to the results, a diet where you have walnuts daily can also have amazing anti-inflammatory effects

The research was conducted by a team of scientists from the University of Connecticut. The team looked at the effects of walnuts on lab mice which suffered from induced ulcerative colitis. But not only that. A new study concerning the effect of walnuts on people who suffer from Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) is ongoing.

The research on mice shows that walnuts help protect your body when it comes to the inflammation of the colon.

Walnuts are some of the healthiest nuts out there. And what’s more, they’re also pretty much available all over the world. Accessibility matters. This is also not the first study that figure out nuts have anti-inflammatory powers.

So protective walnut power or something else?

That is what scientists are very interested in finding out in subsequent research. What the scientists do not know, but intend to find out is if there is some sort of protective walnut power or if they help heal the damage that IBD can do to the colon. For over two weeks, the mice were fed the equivalent of about 20-25 walnuts in a human.

After those two weeks, the researchers noted that their mice subjects had suffered much less colon injury from ulcerative colitis episodes. And also they seemed to have enhanced colonic mucosa repair.
