Onion is on one of the most versatile ingredients for a cook. You can use it in many ways, in many dishes. Here is a new one: stuff the onion layers with sausage meat and wrap them in crispy and crunchy bacon.

Ingredients Needed for Bacon-Wrapped Onion and Sausage Balls

12 ounces of sausage meat ¼ cup breadcrumbs 2 ounces of ground parmesan salt pepper 3 onions 18 bacon 1 teaspoon hot pepper

How to Make Bacon-Wrapped Onion and Sausage Balls

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F/175 degrees C.
  2. Mix the sausage meat, breadcrumbs, egg yolk, ground parmesan, salt, and pepper in a large bowl.
  3. Cut the onions in half. Remove the first layer and keep the larger exterior layers.
  4. Take the larger onion layers and fill them with the sausage meat mix.
  5. Stick two halves of onion layers together in order to make an onion ball filled with meat.
  6. Form 6 onion balls.
  7. Display 3 slices of bacon in a flower pattern.
  8. Put the onion ball in the middle of the bacon flower.
  9. Wrap the ball in bacon, by making all the slices meet on the top of the onion.
  10. Secure with a toothpick.
  11. Do the same for all of the onion and sausage balls.
  12. Cook in the oven for 20 minutes.
  13. You can serve the dish on a bed of baby spinach and onion rings.
