Do you like the funny-looking multi-colored bread? If you do, try our tri-colored version. So, you need 3 doughs, one for each color. Three of our ingredients will serve as food coloring. We have the tomato paste for the red, the spinach for the green and the turmeric for yellow.

Ingredients Needed for Tri-Colored Bread

For the tomato dough:

1 cup flour
1 teaspoon paprika
salt
½ teaspoon sugar
1 tablespoon tomato paste
½ teaspoon fresh yeast
¼ cup water
1 teaspoon vegetable oil
flour for dusting

For the spinach dough:

1 cup flour
salt
½ teaspoon fresh yeast
½ cup water
7 ounces of cooked spinach
1 teaspoon vegetable oil
flour for dusting

For the turmeric dough:

1 cup flour
½ teaspoon fresh yeast
salt
1 teaspoon turmeric
½ cup water
1 teaspoon vegetable oil
flour for dusting

How to Make Tri-Colored Bread

For the tomato dough:
  1. Add the flour, paprika, a dash of salt, and the sugar to a dough mixer bowl. Mix until even.
  2. Keep adding the tomato paste, yeast, and water. Mix until you have a dough.
  3. Coat another bowl with the vegetable oil, dust it with a little flour, transfer the dough in it, cover with plastic foil and let it rise for 40 minutes.
For the spinach dough:
  1. Add the flour, a dash of salt, and yeast to the dough mixer bowl. Mix until even.
  2. Mix the water in. Add the spinach and mix until even.
  3. Coat a 2nd bowl with the vegetable oil, dust it with a little flour, transfer the dough in it, cover with plastic foil and let it rise for 40 minutes.
For the turmeric dough:
  1. Add the flour, yeast, a dash of salt, the turmeric, and water to the dough mixer bowl. Mix until even.
  2. Coat a 3rd bowl with the vegetable oil, dust it with a little flour, transfer the dough in it, cover with plastic foil and let it rise for 40 minutes.
Assembling the bread:
  1. Dust your work surface with flour and flatten the 3 doughs with the rolling pin. They should be equal in size.
  2. Place the one on top of the other, starting with the red one and finishing with the green. Roll and transfer them to a loaf pan.
  3. Score the outer dough and bake for 45 minutes at 380⁰F/190⁰C.
