Have you ever tried halva? Actually, there are various types of halva and they are all delicious! You can easily make a simple sunflower seed halva yourself! It doesn't require much in the way of skill. It’s all about dry-roasting sunflower seeds, mixing them with powdered sugar and butter, flavoring them with vanilla extract, and then forgetting them in the refrigerator for about 3 hours. The actual time spent in the kitchen: about 15 minutes.

Ingredients Needed for Sunflower Seed Halva

10 ounces of sunflower seeds
5 ounces of powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
5 ounces of melted butter

How to Make Sunflower Seed Halva

  1. Heat a pan over low heat and add the sunflower seeds. Stir and fry them for 2-3 minutes.
  2. Transfer them to the blender. Crush them.
  3. Add them and the powdered sugar to a bowl. Mix. Add the vanilla extract and melted butter. Mix more until even.
  4. Line a small baking tray with a larger plastic foil and add the sunflower seed mixture. Spread it evenly and wrap the foil around it. Refrigerate for 3 hours.
  5. Serve it cut into bars.

    Are these the whole seeds with hull? or just the kernels? are they raw? or roasted?
    when adding to the pan are they
    fried in added oil? or just heated and toasted.

    1. Hi, rhino! We use the raw kernels and we simply heat/fry them for 2-3 minutes. No added oil. Good luck! 🎈
