Serve it next to some good smoked sausages, and you have yourself a nice combo of tastes and textures, that work very well together. Also, we weren’t cheap on the amount of spices used. Allspice, cayenne pepper, curcuma, and whole grain mustard… this recipe has all the ingredients to get your attention.

Ingredients Needed for Spicy Cabbage With Smoked Sausage

1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 teaspoon allspice
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon paprika powder
½ onion, sliced
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
1 teaspoon turmeric
1 cabbage head, shredded
¼ red cabbage head, shredded
salt
pepper
4 sausages s, sliced
1 spring onion, chopped
fresh coriander

How to Make Spicy Cabbage With Smoked Sausage

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add allspice, cayenne pepper, paprika powder, and the sliced onion. Cook them for about 2 minutes. When browned, add the turmeric and mustard seeds. Add the shredded cabbage and saute it for 5 minutes, until it softens. Season with salt and pepper. Throw in the red cabbage and continue cooking for 3 more minutes.
  3. Add the smoked sausage and cover the pan with a lid for the next 5 minutes. Remove the lid, add spring onion and coriander. Give it a good stir, and turn off the heat.
