Ingredients Needed for Spiced Ground Beef With Couscous
For the ground beef:
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 teaspoon garam masala
1 pound ground beef
salt
1 teaspoon cumin powder
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon dried parsley
1 spring onion, chopped
For the couscous:
1 teaspoon vegetable oil
1 red onion, quartered
1 ounce butter
1 teaspoon brown sugar
4 ounces of couscous
½ cup vegetable stock
salt
pepper
fresh basil leaves for garnishing
How to Make Spiced Ground Beef With Couscous
- For the ground beef:
Add the vegetable oil to a skillet over medium heat. Add the garam masala and the ground beef. Break the beef lump into smaller pieces using a spatula. - Add some salt, the cumin powder, dried thyme, dried parsley, stir just a little and let it brown for a few minutes. Add the spring onion, stir and cook for 1-2 minutes more. Set aside.
- For the couscous:
Add the vegetable oil to a saucepan over low heat. Add the red onion, too. Cook and stir until it starts to get tender. - Add the butter and the brown sugar and continue cooking and stirring.
- Add the couscous and vegetable stock, season with salt and pepper and continue cooking and stirring for a few minutes more.
- Serve the beef and couscous together and garnish with basil leaves.
