Ingredients Needed for Minced Meat and Bacon Pie

½ red onion, chopped
oil
2 tablespoons of brown sugar
1 pound minced meat
salt
pepper
1 tablespoon breadcrumbs
1 puff pastry sheet
4 bacon
1 egg

How to Make Minced Meat and Bacon Pie

  1. Preheat the oven to 360 degrees F/180 degrees C.
  2. Heat the oil in a cast-iron skillet to a medium high temperature.
  3. Add the red onion, finely chopped, and cook until softer and a little brown.
  4. Add the brown sugar. Mix it in the onion.
  5. Add the minced meat in the skillet and stir fry it until it turns brown.
  6. Sprinkle salt and pepper.
  7. Coat a round oven tray with breadcrumbs.
  8. Add the puff pastry sheet to the tray, molding it to fit.
  9. Use a knife to cut out the excess puff pastry. Save the strips for later.
  10. Add the minced meat mix to the pastry.
  11. Cover the minced meat with the slices of bacon.
  12. Add the puff pastry strips perpendicular to the bacon slices.
  13. Tuck in the edges of the pie over the strips.
  14. Make egg wash using an egg and some water.
  15. Use a brush to coat the pastry with the egg wash.
  16. Bake the pie for 25 minutes.
  17. Serve with ketchup.
