Ingredients Needed for Lasagna and Mozzarella Beef Pie
For the beef filling:
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 onion, diced
1 tablespoon tomato paste
12 ounces of ground beef
1 cup carrots, shredded
¼ cup red wine
⅓ cup heavy cream
For the pie:
2 tablespoons of flour
6 ounces of pie crust
2 cooked lasagna sheets
2 cups of ricotta
3 cups of low moisture mozzarella
1 ounce salami (some 7-8 slices)
How to Cook Lasagna and Mozzarella Beef Pie
- For the beef filling:
Heat the olive oil in a skillet over low heat. Add the onion and cook it until tender.
- Add the tomato paste and stir a little, then add the ground beef and increase the heat to medium. Break it into smaller pieces using a wooden spatula. Stir gently and cook until it is all brown, or for 8-10 minutes.
- Add the carrot, season with salt and pepper, and stir a little more. Add the red wine and heavy cream while stirring, then simmer for 10-12 minutes.
- For the actual pie:
Spread the flour on your work surface and bring together the pie crust until it forms a ball. Flatten it using a rolling pin.
- Line a cake pan with the pie crust and start to alternatively layer the beef mixture with lasagna sheets, ricotta, and mozzarella. After two such layers, add the final layer of beef mixture and top with the remaining mozzarella and the salami. Trim the pie crust using a knife. Bake for 45 minutes at 380⁰F/190⁰C.
