Chocolate Ganache-Topped Halloween Cake

Ingredients Needed for Chocolate Ganache-Topped Halloween Cake


For the ganache:

10 ounces of chocolate
3 ounces of butter
1 ½ tablespoons of cocoa powder
1 cup whipping cream

For the filling:

7 ounces of cream cheese
1 cup whipping cream
½ cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon orange food coloring

Other things:

1 store-bought sponge cake

How to Cook Chocolate Ganache-Topped Halloween Cake

  1. For the chocolate ganache, fill a saucepan with water and place it over medium heat.
  2. Add the chocolate in a heatproof bowl and place it on top of the saucepan.
  3. Melt the chocolate while slowly stirring, and add the butter. Keep stirring until it melts.
  4. Add the cocoa powder and the whipping cream. Stir with a spatula until the ingredients combine into a smooth and thick glaze.
  5. Place the cream cheese into a large bowl. Set up your mixer at high speed and start mixing into the cream cheese. Slow pour the whipping cream, add the powdered sugar, and the food coloring. Keep mixing until you obtain a smooth, thick cream.
  6. Slice the sponge cake horizontally, splitting it into 3 separate layers.
  7. Line a baking tray with parchment paper. Place the first sponge cake layer, and evenly spread 1/3 of the cream cheese filling.
  8. Continue layering the cake, using the above-mentioned steps.
  9. Use the chocolate ganache to decorate the cake according to your preferences!
