Cheesy Prosciutto and Salami Waffles

Normally, when someone says “waffles”, you think about sweet treats, right? Not necessarily. These are seriously decadent waffle sandwiches. They are hot, meaty, and cheesy and for the best result, our advice is to prepare your own waffle dough. Get started.

Ingredients Needed for Cheesy Prosciutto and Salami Waffles

    For the dough:

    10 ounces of flour
    1 teaspoon active dry yeast
    salt
    1 tablespoon sugar
    2 tablespoons of buttermilk
    1 cup water

    For the topping:

    ketchup
    prosciutto strips
    basil leaves
    jalapeno sliced
    low moisture mozzarella, grated
    salami, thinly sliced

How to Make Cheesy Prosciutto and Salami Waffles

For the dough:
  1. Add the flour, yeast, some salt, the sugar, and buttermilk to the dough mixer bowl and start kneading. Gradually add the water in the process. Mix until you have a dough.
  2. Cover the bowl with a kitchen towel and let the dough rise for 60 minutes.
  3. Dust the work surface with flour, break the dough into pieces. Stretch and flatten them using your hands. We’ve ended up with 8 waffle-sized pieces.
Assemble the waffle sandwiches:
  1. Add ketchup, prosciutto, basil, jalapeno, mozzarella, and salami between 2 pieces of dough. Cook them for 5-6 minutes using the waffle iron. Do the same for the remaining ingredients.
