When it comes to cooking, you probably think it’s something like that: you either are a good cook or a bad one.

Well, hold your breath one second! Because there are multiple cooking styles out there. And since no two persons can ever be alike, the same is true when it comes to cooking skills and abilities.

That’s why we have put together this little article. By the end of it, you’ll know what your cooking style truly says about you.

1. The slob

You go by one rule and one rule only: “I cook, you clean!”. You love to cook and everything you do tastes good. You trust your instincts sometimes, instead of the recipe. You waste a lot of energy in creating the perfect dish, and by the end of it, you just do not have any drop of strength to clean your mess. So, someone else will have to do it for you. But if you live alone, you’ll probably leave the cleaning for the next day. Or the following days.

2. The control freak

The kitchen is your sacred place and you cannot share it with somebody else. There’s zen in every corner of the room, magic in every kitchen tool you use, and only you know how to get the breakfast, lunch and dinner perfectly done. You don’t need company, because you master the recipe, the right amount of ingredients, the perfect time of cooking or baking. You play by the book and that’s how you get it done.

3. The overly-prepared

You plan, measure and weigh every food items you buy and only buy ingredients for the dishes you know for sure you’ll cook. This way, you don’t waste anything. You are attached to your own way of cooking and only love how your dishes taste. This is why you always carry an extra snack for you in your bag, just in case you don’t like what other people have prepared for you. It’s not that you don’t trust their cooking skills, but you are very fond of your cooking style. And you wouldn’t trade it for anything else.

4. The compulsive baker

When you are happy, you bake. When you feel sad, you bake. When you have too much work to do, you bake, just to calm your mind a little bit. Yeah, you love to bake all sorts of desserts, especially. Your kitchen is always stocked with flour, eggs, sugar, chocolate and fruits. You don’t miss birthdays, because you want to bring your latest cake creation to the party. One of the things you love most is people telling you how an amazing baker you are.

5. The improviser

Following the recipe? You? No sir, you have an excellent cooking instinct and your friends consider you a walking culinary encyclopedia. All the knowledge about all the cuisines are there in your little head, so you don’t mind bending the rules from time to time and substitute ingredients. As long as the end-result is delicious, what difference does it make if you used leek instead of onion? You enjoy the whole cooking process and try not to think so much about the nutritional values.

6. The burner

You know what they say, save the best for the last. Which is why we now want you to meet Hephaestus, the God of Fire and All the Burnt Dishes. Everything he touches turns to crispy burnt black. He has a good heart, all the best intentions, and he really, really tries, you know? But his wandering mind often takes him away and he forgets to check the food in the oven or the frying pan left on the gas cooker. Oh, wait, is that really you we’re talking about here?! Don’t worry, we know you are a dreamer with great passions, but baking bread is not one of them. Probably for the best.

Well then, which one of these cooking styles do you fit in? Let us know in the comment section below. And please, don’t be shy and share this article with your friends. It’s gonna be fun!
