3 Fun Cooking Shows to Watch on Netflix

Published by

What is more addictive? Binging on good food or on good TV? Why can’t it be both, we ask? Here are some great cooking shows you can watch on Netflix right now!

Lately, it seems that I just can’t turn off my brain away from cooking. How else would you explain the fact that after a day of writing about food and everything that has to do with it, I end up at home, turning the streaming site on and just watching a few episodes of a cooking show? But honestly, some of them are so fun and help me relax, so why not?

I, for one, am not a huge fan of cooking shows that rely too much on the competition aspect of things. I always prefer the ones where the judges don’t try to make a conflict out of anything and their feedback is on point. But the real important thing here is the actual cooking. I love seeing beautiful food get made, step by step, all culminating in exquisite, aesthetic cooking.

So without further ado, here are my favorite cooking shows at the moment.

3 cooking shows you can stream right now

1. Sugar Rush

This has been my absolute favorite recently. I really like the conceit and the judges are all very nice and supportive. It’s a baking show that has the contestants first make cupcakes, then confections, and in the final round, a giant cake. It starts off with four teams but only two can make it to the cake round. And the twist? It’s that during the first two rounds contestants can work as fast as possible and save time for the final round. This show is sweet fun, that’s for sure!

2. Nailed It

This super fun and cool show is not as much baking inspiration. More like pure, uncut entertainment. The conceit is this: amateur bakers compete trying to recreate cookies (for the first round) and extravagant cakes (for the second round). The results are always catastrophically funny. But they don’t have to be anything else. What I love about this show in particular that the laughs are never condescending and the contestants are never mocked or discouraged. The judges give them helpful tips and the winner gets $10,000!

3. Cooking on High

I binged all of the episodes of this very funny show without even realizing. It involves people cooking with marijuana and it’s oddly mesmerizing. Sure, one could say that you should watch it while stoned, but I am here to assure you that watching it without consuming anything is quite legit. In each episode, two chefs cook lovely gourmet dishes that are very thought out but that can also get you high. The judges end up laughing and having trouble with focus more often than not. The episodes are never longer than 15 minutes, catering to a short attention span. And the food looks really good!

Have you watched any of these? If so, what’s your favorite so far?
