3 Coffee Scrub Recipes for Perfect Skin This Summer

If you’re a coffee lover, then you surely have some coffee grounds at home that you were going to throw out with the paper filter. Stop! Wait! They’re perfect for these following coffee scrub recipes you can make at home with minimal effort.

Not to be TMI (Too Much Information) with you, but sometimes (I mean always! Way too often!) summer is hard on my skin. It gets drier so much easier and with constant hair removal like waxing or shaving legs, some hairs tend to grow under the skin. Ouch. That’s why a body scrub of any kind is not a luxury, but a necessity, sometimes. And you should really go for one with coffee because it has multiple other benefits for your skin.

Once you learn and apply these coffee scrub recipes, use them weekly to rejuvenate your skin. Keep whatever is left of your homemade scrub in a jar of your choosing.

Why coffee is amazing in scrubs

As you probably already know, coffee is loaded with antioxidants. That’s why it’s pretty healthy to drink it in moderation. But those protective antioxidants can also do wonders for your skin. The caffeine in the coffee helps stimulate your blood flow. That’s why caffeine is often used in anti-cellulitic creams and ointments. But it will also make your skin brighter and it will bring the glow back. That’s priceless, especially when your skin is going through so much stress – like very strong sunlight and impossible heat.

Coffee also reduces inflammation and thereby tightens your skin.

3 coffee scrub recipes for this summer

1. Coffee and cinnamon body scrub

This is probably my favorite of the coffee scrub recipes. Cinnamon is great when paired with coffee because it also boosts blood flow and it has antibacterial and antifungal properties. If you have a wound that needs healing, do not hesitate to apply cinnamon. Also, use this for a more supple skin.

Use half a cup of brewed coffee grounds, about a tablespoon of ground cinnamon, one-third of a cup of sugar and one-third of a cup of coconut oil (the melted variety). Mix everything together in a bowl. Then apply in the shower by scrubbing all of your body. Scrub a bit harder on coarser areas like your heels or other possible problem areas. Then rinse yourself and enjoy your skin.

2. Coffee and citrus body scrub

Why mix coffee grounds with some citrus essential oils? Because the acidity in citrus helps cleanse your skin and helps remove bacteria from your skin. It also fights off wrinkles and removes the oil excess you might have. At the same time, if you have any dark spots you might want to be lightened, citrus is your friend!

So mix half a cup of brewed coffee grounds with half a cup of melted coconut oil, 1-2 drops of lemon essential oil, 1-2 drops of orange essential oil and one-quarter of a cup of sugar, whichever type you prefer. Then use it to get rid of your dead skin cells. Use a palm full of the scrub on your whole body starting with your feet and scrub in a circular motion until you reach your neck. Keep it there for 15 minutes and then rinse.

3. Coffee and olive oil face scrub

Your face needs a more delicate touch. So mix half a cup of new coffee grounds with about one tablespoon of brown sugar. You can add more or less, it depends on the consistency you want your scrub to have. After that, add one tablespoon of olive oil, which also has great skin rejuvenating properties. This will help you get rid of the dead skin on your face and help your body produce fresh skin cells. Your face will be glowing in the summer heat after that!

Massage the scrub into your skin with circular motions and then rinse with warm water.
