Ingredients Needed for Baked French Toast

8 eggs
2 cups of milk
1 ½ cups of heavy whipping cream
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 baguette, sliced
1 ⅓ cups of brown sugar
3 tablespoons of maple syrup
½ cup melted butter

How to Make Baked French Toast

  1. Add the eggs to a bowl and whisk them.
  2. Keep adding the milk, whipping cream, cinnamon, and vanilla extract. Whisk more until even.
  3. Add the baguette slices to a baking dish so that they form a continuous layer. Pour the whisked egg mixture over them.
  4. Seal with plastic foil and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  5. Add the brown sugar, maple syrup, and melted butter to a bowl. Whisk them.
  6. Pour this mixture over the whisked egg-soaked bread. Try to spread it evenly.
  7. Bake for 25 minutes at 360⁰F/180⁰C.
  8. Serve garnished with the syrup of your choice and with strawberries.

How to Make Spiced French Toast

  1. Start heating the milk in a cooking pot over low heat. Add the lemon zest, cinnamon sticks, and star anises. Whisk.
  2. Add the sugar and whisk until melted. Remove and discard the cinnamon sticks and star anises. Remove the milk from heat.
  3. Place the bread slices into a larger baking dish. Pour the spiced milk over them. Let them soak for a minute on both their sides, then coat each slice with whisked egg.
  4. Fill a saucepan halfway with vegetable oil and heat it. Deep-fry on both sides the milk-soaked bread until golden brown.
  5. Place them on paper towels and let them cool. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve.

  2. Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat.

  4. Throw in it the diced bell pepper and salami. Stir and cook them for 1-2 minutes.

  7. Use the crusted parts and place them into the skillet. The bell pepper and salami mixture should be in the center of each toast crust. Then pour the whisked eggs in each one, and top with the toast crumb you just removed before. Press down on them with your fingers.
  8. The egg will cook quickly, so flip the bread slices after 30-60 seconds. Toast them on the other side for 30-60 more seconds.
